Programs
We focus on three program areas:Neighborhood and Community Beautification
CRCD’s Neighborhood & Community Beautification Team provides graffiti removal, bulky item pick-up, alley clean-ups, street maintenance, and business corridor maintenance in a 15-square mile target area. In 2009, CRCD’s professional crews removed 6.1 million square feet of graffiti, reducing tension and violence between the target area’s 55 gangs. CRCD picked up 1,247 tons of illegally dumped bulky items and collected 13,133 bags of trash. CRCD also provided coordination and clean-up for 26 community events in 2009, and provided job training for 71 young people in CRCD’s workforce development programs.

Workforce Development for Youth & Young Adults
CRCD serves as lead agency for the South LA YouthBuild Program in partnership with our education/training partner -- Los Angeles Trade Technical College. South LA YouthBuild provides education and green construction skills to 30 young people (age 18-24) per year, along with training and work experience at CRCD’s affordable housing construction sites. CRCD also serves as lead agency for the Vernon-Central Workforce Development Network – a collaboration of 4 nonprofits tackling youth unemployment. The Network provides training and workforce development for 60 young people (aged 17-25) per year in computer technology/wireless network deployment, environmental conservation, and construction/clean energy. CRCD offered a Summer Youth Employment Program in 2009 for 135 youth.
