Kayah has been residing at Ashley Willowbrook Apartments since September 27, 2021. Before moving to Ashley Willowbrook, Kayah had been homeless and couch surfing at friends’ houses for two years. While overcoming this obstacle, Kayah worked hard with her ICMS case manager to move into housing while dealing with her own personal issues.

While being currently housed for the past 2 and half years, Kayah was able to work at the LA Food Bank through the GROW program with the Department of Social Services (DPSS). After participating in this program, Kayah was selected in September 2021 by the DPSS program to be part of the Guarantee Income Program (GI) for three years and be assisted with a fixed income while being able to continue to work part-time at the food bank.

After completing her employment at the LA Food Bank, Kayah has been participating since January 2023 in being part of the CRCD SPA 6 Young Youth Adult team (YYA) of formerly homeless youth who are now Youth Leaders that are working in creating a crucial aspect of building a strong and effective youth leadership programs that will assist the homeless youth programs in SPA 6. The YYA program will help local city officials better assist the homeless youth and provide better programs and housing assistance to the youth in the community in SPA 6.

All of these accomplishments are credited to all the hard work that Kayah has been doing with the ongoing support and assistance while working together and being provided by CRCD Housing and Supportive ICMS Case Management Staff at Ashley Willowbrook.
